I know what you are thinking…is she really doing a post on avocado toast? Yes, I am!
This new menu item, as simple as it is, has become the latest craze all across California. It’s silly right avocado on toast, but let me tell you, I love avocado toast!!! I love how diverse it can be, how everyone can create their avocado toast to their likings and I love the health benefits.
For me, I kept the recipe super simple; I added some fresh sliced tomatoes, salt, pepper, mustard seeds and watercress…simply right? So here is what you need to do, find a ripened avocado, cut it in half
So here is what you need to do, find a ripened avocado, cut it in half
using a fork, smoosh the avocado until there are no chunks
toast your favorite bread
top with your avocado
add sliced tomatoes
season with salt, pepper and mustard seeds
add watercress
serve!
and enjoy!
Here are some suggestions for you, starting with just the avocado and toast:
- Add an on top for a great breakfast
- Sliced cucumbers and dill are a nice addition
- Smoked salmon and red onion for a savory treat
- Radishes with lettuce make this a great appetizer
As you can see there are many options, so think outside of the box and have some fun with this one. Making this at home, I saved me $12 (that’s the going rate for avocado toast out here), and I have to say, it was delicious!
