With Super Bowl Sunday right around the corner I knew it was time to share my stuffed jalapeño wrapped in bacon with you!
Don’t you love Super Bowl Sunday? The appetizers, the commercials and of course the game…so much hoopla over a game…although with the right appetizer, great commercials and a great game, it can be a great day for you!
Stuffed jalapeños is an all time favorite so I will share a few things with you:
- If you have disposable gloves, wear them whenever you touch jalapeños. If you do not have disposable gloves, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly. Jalapeños have capsaicin in them the capsaicin is the ingredient in the jalapeño that creates the “heat” in the pepper.
- Removing the seeds in the jalapeños will help to remove the “heat” in the pepper.
- While there is no rule as to how spicy a jalapeño will be, I have heard a rumor that if you pick a jalapeño that has lines on it, it will be spicy.
This recipe for stuffed jalapeños, I cut the jalapeño in half leaving the stems on, I also removed the seeds. The jalapeños were put in boiling water and boiled for 4-5 minutes. Here are the jalapeños once they were boiled
While the jalapeños were boiling, I mixed the cream cheese with some cheddar cheese
the cheese mixture was then spooned into the jalapeños
wrapped the jalapeños with bacon and placed on a cooling rack, placed the cooling rack in a baking sheet (this keeps the jalapeños out of the bacon fat)
baked the stuffed jalapeños wrapped in bacon at 400 degrees for 15-18 minutes
removed the stuffed jalapeños and platted them.
This is a great recipe that you will love, it’s gluten free, a little spicy and it has bacon…a crowd pleaser for sure!
