WoooHooo it’s Labor Day weekend, I love this weekend as it’s a great excuse to invite friends and have a BBQ or just good food in general. If you are feeling stuck in what to make, I have compiled a list of some of my favorite recipes from the past year to help you!
Let’s start with some great appetizers that I created this year…a no fuss, no bake, gluten free recipe is my apricot with blue cheese and pecans, it’s perfect for a hot summer day and brings a little sweet from the apricots and savory from the blue cheese…even better you can make this appetizer in less than 5 minutes!
Another great appetizer (or serve as a side dish) is my healthy lentil dish, this can be served with potato chips, making it another gluten free option!
A simple cheese plater is always suggested, you can add some fruit (I added both dried and fresh) to your tray, do a soft cheese like brie, a nice gouda and a blue cheese so you have a variety of cheeses.
For main meals think about doing my chicken cheeseburgers
If you don’t have a grill, the hamburger with grilled onions was made on a stove top
simple side dishes, the hasselback potato is great as you can customize them to your guests needs
a coleslaw recipe with a little twist and no mayo!
or a quinoa salad
for a drink, try the Shandy Beer recipe as it’s refreshing on a hot summer day and for those who don’t like beer, the sprite takes away the bitter taste
for a dessert, make it easy, do my chocolate chip cookies, it’s a no fail recipe!
I hope you have a safe Labor Day this coming Monday! I also hope that some of my suggestions have helped you to simplify a menu, keep it easy on you, enjoy your day and have fun with your family and friends!
