I love making homemade salad dressing, yes from scratch! My mom always made a homemade salad dressing and never knew how good she was at making them, as a great salad dressing will compliment the greens…and it makes all the difference. One of my all most views posts is my Homemade Creamy Tarragon Dressing which is a little heavier but definitely one to keep in your recipe box, I also have my Mock Pesto Dressing that everyone loves this time of year!
This is a super easy salad dressing that can be modified to your likings, I personally like to use lemons this time of the year and just love the fresh taste the lemons add. That being said, some lemons are more tart than others so you will probably need to add sugar or honey to sweeten the dressing a little.
Just like my other recipes, this salad dressing recipe can be changed around, a few suggestions:
- Add fresh chopped mint
- Add chopped shallots
- Add a tiny bit of dijon mustard (I would then substitute white vinegar instead of the lemon)
- Add fresh oregano
For this salad dressing recipe, I basically added all the ingredients into my salad dressing jar and mixed it until it well combined…it’s that simple!
This recipe gets better as it sits so if you can make it a few hours ahead of time that would be great. It can be stored in your refrigerator for about a week (if it lasts that long) and works great on arugula. I will make my mediterranean salad and use this dressing so look out for that recipe!
