French toast is such a simple concept, take old bread, dip in egg and cook it…add a little sugar and cinnamon and there you have it…French toast 101!
As simple of a concept the recipe is, I always struggled with making french toast. In my mind I kept thinking I was experimenting and recreating a new recipe…the reality, it always came out the same and I never loved it.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. – Albert Einstein
This was my love/hate relationship with French toast…doing the same thing, expecting a different outcome…until Sunday when everything changed for me. My daughter asked me to make my famous pancake recipe (this is my most viewed recipe on my blog and a must if you haven’t tried it yet).
I added brown sugar to my eggs and cream (part of the secret)
place a little sugar in a bowl with some cinnamon
Remove and serve…
When it comes to recipes, sometimes it’s good to try something new and different so ultimately you create a recipe that is 10 times better than anything you have tried before. I think the brown sugar added that sweetness and by adding the sugar/cinnamon directly into the pan, it created a sweet crust. Let me know what you think of this recipe, I was not planning on blogging this recipe, I only took the photos for my own purpose…in the meantime it’s a great recipe!
