I wanted to end the 2015 year off with this chocolate fudge cake and ran into complications in posting the recipe…since it was such an amazing recipe I figured one last guilty indulgent before year end wouldn’t hurt, right? The chocolate cake recipe didn’t post last week and even though I know most friends are on diets from chocolate as the season has come and gone, this recipe just had to be shared as it’s pretty amazing. Here is how the post started…
With the New Years just ahead of us and people making new years resolutions, I thought the perfect ending to 2015 was to indulge in a chocolate fudge cake this way when we start the new year off, we can reminisce of the guilty pleasures we left behind. I was going to make the chocolate cake I make last Christmas, death by chocolate cake as everyone loved that cake…but I just had to experiment and wanted to create a more chocolate fudge cake so I added even more chocolate into the equation.
This chocolate cake recipe is great because I used boxed cake mix and a brownie cake mix, added some heath bar bits and a few extra chocolate chips to the batter (next time I’d add a little instant coffee and I added it to the recipe as I know how a little goes a long way)…did I mention it was a chocolate fudge cake? I’ve never tried to experiment with cake and brownie mixes like that, it worked out perfectly!!!! If you can not find the heath bits, you can omit them and if adding the chocolate chips is too much chocolate, omit them as well.
Here is my chocolate cake mix, fudge mix, eggs and oil (DO NOT FOLLOW PACKAGE INSTRUCTIONS, FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTIONS)
mix well, add the heath toffee bits and chocolate chips (both of these are options)
pour into your bundt pan, I used this one that I had from long ago this is the only one I could find on Amazon, but any bundt pan can work for this recipe. Here is a shot with the batter in the pan
yummy…here it is baked
let it cool slightly and remove from the pan…how pretty is that???
to add even more chocolate, I made a chocolate ganache and topped my cake with it
As chocolate fudge cakes go, this one was amazing!!! I don’t usually pat myself on the back but I loved this recipe and even thought there is a lot of chocolate involved, it’s not over the top sweet…go figure. Don’t get me wrong, it’s sweet and delicious…just not over the top! I hope you enjoy this chocolate fudge indulgent as much as we did.
