Who’d of thunk…ground chicken to make a chicken cheeseburger…oh yeah I went there! I love a good cheeseburger and thought I would try and make a hamburger that was a little healthier by using ground chicken.
Ground chicken can be very dry so I knew I needed to create a recipe that would be moist, I searched my refrigerator and found some tomatoes and Italian parsley and went to town.
Chicken can be very bland so to add flavor I used the garlic powder, cumin, dried oregano, fennel pollen and poultry seasonings
chop up some tomatoes and Italian parsley
add some salt, chili powder and chipotle pepper
mixed it together, add the chopped tomatoes and parsley
added some ritz crackers, just a few to keep the burger together
formed burgers into patties, in forming the burgers leave a small indent in the center, this will help the patty to cook up perfectly
placed them on the bbq (and I’m not even the girl who knows how to bbq…look at me go!)
put 2 different kind of cheeses on them, added some cheese and YUMMY!
There is nothing I would have changed about this recipe for chicken hamburgers…if you can not find ground chicken try this recipe using ground turkey. The fennel pollen works amazingly with chicken, you can find it here and while I recognize it’s a pricy spice, it is the best kept secret in my pantry, you will love this spice! If you do not have crackers, you can use bread crumbs, although if you have the crackers, use the crackers. For your next bbq give my chicken hamburgers a try and let me know what you think. Enjoy!
